Capt. Wurthier Speaks At Year-End Meeting

It was our pleasure and privilege to host our final 2024 meeting, featuring Capt. Stacy Wuthier, commanding officer of Naval Station Everett. Capt. Wuthier assumed her command in April of this year.

Prior to arriving in Everett, Capt. Wuthier was stationed at the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Ballston Spa, NY as the Commanding Officer. She also commanded USS Jackson (LCS 6) Blue Crew homeported in San Diego, CA. At sea, she was Executive Officer aboard USS Jackson (LCS 6) and USS Omaha (LCS 12).

Captain Wuthier earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!) and a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. She was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School and the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program in 2000.

Naval Station Everett is home to six U.S. Navy homeported ships and two U.S. Coast Guard vessels. There are about 6,000 people attached to the station, with roughly half of them being sailors. As a military mom herself, the Captain is appreciative of the support of communities in the area who help to bolster the feeling of “home” to families who may be feeling isolated or unsure, when their sailor is underway. Families appreciate support at the schools, and in other areas of their life.

In the past Kiwanis supported the Rodney M Davis (a now decommissioned vessel), and we plan to resurrect that support in 2025 for another ship. We plan on connecting with the city and perhaps other service organizations like Rotary to offer that wide net of resources and assistance to military families and their sailors.
