Record Number Scholarships Awarded
This year, Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo gave out a record $58,500 dollars in school scholarships to graduating seniors in the Mukilteo School District. Recipients attended Mariner High School, Kamiak High School and ACES High School.
When Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo began in September, 1997, its charter members held their meetings in one of our local high schools. As the club grew, the members moved to a location in a local business. Throughout the nearly 29 years they have been around, the club’s focus has been serving the children and youth of our community.
Over the years fundraising was undertaken to help underwrite dictionaries for 3rd graders, grants given to other organizations that support children, and other student related programs that the club supported. But the backbone of our giving has always been to help young men and women pursue post high school education, be that through college, university, or trade school opportunities.
For the 2025-2026 school year, Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo was pleased to award scholarships to 29 deserving students. Two of our members attended Kamiak High School’s scholarship ceremony this week, and had the opportunity to speak about an outstanding student who received this year’s highest Kiwanis award.
Calvin Ding, received the Earl “Skip” Kidd award of $4,500 for his outstanding scholastic and community efforts. Calvin was a Key Club member, who attended occasional club meetings as a Key Club officer. He was a focused individual who will be attending Stanford as a Pre-Med student. His course of study will be blood disorders, due to his losing a friend in middle school with that diagnosis. Calvin already has a background in Asian medicine, through the influence and guidance of his grandfather.
We are so proud of all our scholarship recipients and look forward to continuing our support for future students as they journey into the future. To paraphrase a famous quote… “Oh The Places They Will Go.”
