Naval Ship Adoption
On July 7, 2025, the USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53], an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer ship assigned to Naval Station Everett was officially adopted by the community of Mukilteo.
The ship is named after American Revolutionary War naval captain John Paul Jones. and derives her motto from his words… “I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast, for I intend to go in harm’s way.”
The USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) arrived to its new homeport at Naval Station Everett, in Everett, Washington, Aug. 23, 2021. John Paul Jones is part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, and was formerly homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Now, in 2025, four separate entities, City of Mukilteo, Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo, Rotary Club of South Everett-Mukilteo, and the Mukilteo Chamber have banded together to support and foster community relations with military personnel and their families.
This partnership with the naval base is not a new one. In the past our community supported the USS Rodney M. Davis, a now de-commissioned vessel. USS Rodney M. Davis was an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate of the United States Navy named for Marine Sergeant Rodney Maxwell Davis, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism in the Vietnam War.
We are committed to supporting the military men and women of the US Navy.
