Local Food Bank Needs Help

Members of Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo work many shifts every month at the Mukilteo Food Bank. When we started just over a year ago we were filling bags of groceries for roughly 100 families. (Other shifts were filling 1/2 bags for other families). Increases to SNAP (food benefits) that resulted from the pandemic ended last month. Food allowances are now reduced to pre-COVID levels.

Food bank recipient numbers have risen sharply and will continue to rise. In addition, new families have relocated to Mukilteo this past year. The food bank is now serving 200 families.

When we worked a shift on Tuesday, we literally ran out of several items for the week, including meat.

Many families are in need. They are our neighbors, our kids’ friends, the clerk at your favorite store. If you are able please donate to the food bank. You can either drop off items on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month (11:00a to 1:00p) or visit: http://www.mukilteofoodbank.org/ to see a wish list and donate online.
