Camp Fire Snohomish County Shares Update
Camp Fire Snohomish County visited us last week and shared their vision for offering services to youth in our area. This organization has been in the county since 1917, and has played an integral role in the lives of countless families since then. Last year they served over 8,000 children and teens.
Camp Fire offers a range of services, from after school services, outdoor education, day and night camps and more. Recently they received a $1,000,000 grant from the American Rescue Plan Funds to build a childcare center at Camp Killoqua. They are hoping to grow it into a nature-based preschool at some point.
Kiwanis is particularly connected to Camp Killoqua and they provide Camp Fire Snohomish County with a volunteer work party each year. In the past we have worked on roofs, hitching posts for their horses, spring cleanup, and construction of smaller buildings. We plan to be back on site on May 18th.
We look forward to a continued partnership and if anyone wishes to donate or volunteer please visit their website: https://campfiresnoco.org/ They have an exciting fundraiser coming up on May 17th, 5:30pm at Hotel Indigo on the Everett Waterfront. See you there!
