Cocoon House: Breaking The Cycle Of Homelessness
We welcomed Andrea Wyatt from Cocoon House at our last meeting. Cocoon House has been open since 1991, and focuses on youth who are homeless.
Some of the core values of Cocoon House include “community, respect, leadership, equity, safety and advocacy.” These are words that unfortunately are not ones that the residents of the program are easily familiar with. Many come from situations with abuse, prejudice, family conflict, and abandonment.
To be able to find safe housing, resources, supportive programming, and employment or education opportunities… it is a huge gift. But it is one that can help lead a struggling young person to a life with hope, and on to a path of success.
