Community Clean-Up A Success
Four times a year, Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo tackles a street clean-up along the Speedway. As part of a service project, members and Key Club students don their hard hats and safety vests, and set about sprucing up a local street.
The Mukilteo Speedway, also known as SR 525, is a four lane highway cutting through part of unincorporated Snohomish county, Mukilteo proper, and a small piece of south Everett. Its pathway means it is the primary thoroughfare for getting to Old Town, and to the Mukilteo-Whidbey Island ferry terminal. And that means in many instances, it is the face of our city when it comes to visitors to the area. That, and the fact that we take pride in our hometown, is why our club feels the importance of keeping the “curb appeal” fresh and clean.
Today, we picked up 16 garbage bags full of trash. From the intersection at Walgreens and Harbour Pointe S., to the intersection of Beverly Park Rd and the Speedway, volunteers covered both sides of the street. It is a task we will again undertake this winter, next spring, and again in the summer.
