It’s Time To Vote!
Recently we hosted members from the administration team of the Mukilteo School District lead by Superintendent Alison Brynelson. Last year a proposed obligation bond for the school district did not receive a super majority vote in order to pass. This year the community are tasked with once again, reviewing the proposed strategic plan and weighing in on the educational landscape for our students.
We have all received our Voters’ Pamphlet by now. Our encouragement as a club is for you to do your research and then cast your ballot.
In the strategic plan, the following priorities to be addressed are:
Major Projects
Critical Building Systems
Safety & Security
Technology & Data Security
Fields & Playgrounds
- Major Projects is NOT to be confused with new buildings. It is upgrading and bolstering the existing buildings.
- Critical Building Systems and Safety & Security addresses ways to keep our kiddos safe in many circumstances but specifically in the event of a lock down and other life threatening situations.
- Technology addresses a myriad of areas but it would provide better communication between buildings, staff, and families.
- Fields & Playgrounds in general need to be updated for safety.
The funds from a bond such as this, have a “partial match” which comes from the state. If the bond fails, that’s money that is effectively “left on the table.”
We are not asking for a specific vote. We are simply asking you to research and then PLEASE…. Vote! The deadline for mail in voting is just around the corner. A safe way to ensure your vote is counted is to drop off your ballot at the ballot receptacle at the public library.
